Episode 177 - Not GARP: One Piece Live Action

After fifteen years in the business, we still have more to talk about. This time, we sort of talk about anime by going the Netflix live action adaptation of One Piece.

Episode 163 - Not GARP: Stranger

While we wait for more Aquarion, we try something that we haven't done for a while: Talk about a live action drama. More specifically, the 2017 South Korean drama that is currently on Netflix, Stranger.

Episode 162 - Not GARP: Spring 2022 Anime Season Preview

We are still on break from Aquarion so let's do a bit of a throwback. Recorded live on Twitch, we go through the list of upcoming (and currently airing) anime of Spring 2022. So, you can't say that we are late on doing a preview episode.

Episode 138 - #MangaCrimes

At one point we were suppose to record something for another podcast but then we kept talking. So here is the result of that. Trust us, a lot was cut out. We range from talking a bit of Fooly Cooly, a tiny update from episode 137, parents in My Hero Academia, and why the rivalry in Black Clover may actually be better than it should be.

Episode 135 - #SSAA10Years

It has been ten years since we started as a podcast and we are still here for some stupid reason. This was recorded live during our anniversary back in September and it is now out in audio form.

Episode 130 - Felicia Barton

Wow there was a bit of a gap there. We finally have a new episode of the podcast that started it all. On this episode of the Ass Backwards Anime Podcast, we go over some hot button topics that we have missed out on talking about. We go over why fans want their favs to be considered "anime" and why you shouldn't worry about what celebrities are watching.

Episode 128 - Chance The Rapper

Another episode is here. Foxy has returned to the show after some time as well as a couple of guests. The SoundCloud duo of the AniManga Podcast, Jammer and Dominic, have returned to the show this time to talk about a movie we all saw recently. Actually, it is not really about that. On this episode, we are going over the stigma of Hollywood live-action adaptations through the lens of the Netflix Original movie, Death Note.

Episode 124 - 9mm Parabellum Bullet

Turkey Day weekend is here and most of you are recovering from whatever you ate. So, here is another episode of out dated material that you can listen to while you picking off leftovers. If you listened to episode 122, you might remember that there was a part that was cut out of the original broadcast. Well, now I decided to release that audio. I thought it would be a great idea to have Josh Dunham here to talk about (at the time of the recording) the current season of anime and what we thought could possibly be the standouts of the summer 2016 anime season. Let's see how wrong we were.

Episode 122 - Mimi Meme MIMI

A new episode is out. Kind of a change of pace for this one. Josh Dunham stops by to the show and we talk about virtually nothing for the first couple of minutes. Then we actually start going over the why it matters to look closer at the things you enjoy. The discussion really goes in multiple directions but the theme stays the same throughout it.

Bonus - If Anime Ended After This Sentence

Hey, I did a guest spot on our old friend's podcast. Josh Dunham has started his new blog/podcast, Senpai Coast to Coast, where he does Josh things. He invited me, fellow Gintabro, Colton, and the baddest man on the planet, CJ Hitchcock, to discuss if anime is going to die. Listen as Josh tries his best to host this show.

Episode 109 - December 30, 2014

Unless something gets recorded within the next couple of hours of this episode getting posted, this will be our last episode of 2014. A lot has happened this year. Some pretty sad stuff came with it. Let's see if we can find a way to tie anime to some of it. Or not. Here is us being as real as we can as we talk about our lives as anime fans and how our background has shaped how we experience it.

Episode 100 Part 2 - Best Kept Secret

We go from One Piece to werewolf porn on this portion of episode 100. At one point, twerking might have been involved. They should have never gave us microphones. We want to thank Zach and Ed of the Unofficial One Piece Podcast for stopping by and thank Jammer and Dominic from the Animanga Podcast for not leaving. We have four hours of our idiocy on this one. 17 hours to go.

Episode 99 - Don't Sleep

Oh wow. Took us long enough but we finally got episode 99 of the podcast out. On this episode of the podcast, we go over what really pisses us off about the anime fandom. A nice little general discussion episode for a change. We got Jammer back from a mountain and Seraph from The Broken Infinite to help us vent a bit.

Episode 94 - Swear To Me

Nostalgia took a backseat on this one. On this episode of the Ass Backwards Anime Podcast, we talk about Toonami. I am joined by the human encyclopedia and lover of turtles, Sketch. He is here representing (at the time of this record) The Unofficial Toonami Podcast, which just merged recently with the Toonami Faithful Podcast. The curse continues.

Episode 66.91 - Josh Is Banned Again...Twice Actually

This episode is proof that if you bother me enough on Twitter while I am at work, I will record an episode with you just so you can shut up. Josh Dunham thought it would be best to respond to a comment we made on a previous episode about Cowboy Bebop being a bit overrated as compared to some other shows that he likes. You mad already audience? I thought it was best that we talked about this on a medium where we can understand him better. Luckily for Josh, we ended up straying from the subject and start talking about our roles as podcasters. All that and we tell you something that you should already be aware of on this episode of the Ass Backwards Anime Podcast.

Episode 63.5 - I Pushed Her Off The Stage...Twice Actually

Here is the second episode we are releasing this week. I guess you can consider this the MizuCon Filler Arc. I just used shounen action show terminology. I should be shot. Until then, you can hear us try to stay awake and talk about MizuCon itself. I'm sure you will all think I am a complete jerk by the end of it and will be glad that I am getting shot.

Episode 61 - I Bought My Anime...Twice Actually

After all the trouble, we finally bring you this three hour long episode about piracy. For reals this time. Trust me, this took some effort to fix with all the dropped calls and the sound quality. We ended up having a lot of people join in on this episode. Aside from our usual hosts, we have Firecrouch and Funkatron from the Unofficial One Piece Podcast, Mikey D. Pirate from the One Piece at a Time Blog, and to even out the One Piece lovefest (which didn’t work out during the recording), we have Gothic Garra from the Konoha Corner Podcast, a Naruto podcast. Since this took longer than I wanted to, I will be releasing another episode tomorrow to make up for the long delays between recent episodes.

Episode 59 - The Yard House Episode Featuring Anime Expo 2010

We went a long way to bring you this episode. This is our con report on Anime Expo 2010. This was truly one of the best con experiences I have ever had. For those unlucky few that were following the Twitter, I am sure you got to read plenty of our experiences. Even though I, Doctor, mainly talk about the con itself, the other members of the podcast are going to share with you some of their misadventures. With 60 just around the corner, let’s see if our heroes can make it there in one piece.
